Jim has been in photography for a long time, and he has a great passion for the Mac and photography. About Jim: Jim Buckner is a photohobbyist whose parents were part-time professional photographers. His first camera was a Kodak Brownie and then he graduated to a Pony. He is proficient in the use of iPhoto and Photoshop and also employs Painter, Sketch, FotoMagico and PhotoArtist in his works. About the presentation: In minutes, the editing features of iPhoto allow graphical corrections, photo enhancements and artistic adjustments that formerly took hours in the darkroom. Establishing a workflow routine, laying out a workspace and demonstrating some helpful tips will be the subjects of this presentation. His books have sold over 1,000,000 copies, and he is certainly one of the best evangelists for all things Apple and Mac of all time. He has published articles in many Mac magazines, but he is best known for giving outstanding information in an extremely accessible way. Many people consider Bob's annual visit to be the highlight of the year, and we are always thrilled to bring him in. Hi everyone, We are thrilled that Wes Maggio of Wacom to be our featured guest speaker for our September meetup. Wes is nationally famous for his skills with the Wacom tablets, and helping people get the most out of them. You can see Wes on Wacom's home page. He has tons of experience presenting to groups, and is incredibly comfortable in front of a group of people. As Dave explains it, "ProfCast is a versatile, powerful, yet very simple to use tool for recording lectures including PowerPoint and/or Keynote slides for creating enhanced podcasts. ProfCast provides a low cost solution for recording and distributing lectures, special events, and presentations as podcasts. ProfCast offers an integrated workflow that makes creating, recording, and publishing podcasts easy. It's as simple as Launch, Load, and Lecture." This is useful for both business (which does a lot of presentations) and education. Anyone with an interest in recording and sharing presentations is encouraged to attend this free and open event. Hi everyone, I am very pleased to announce that Senior Apple Engineer Dave Marra will be our guest for our July main meeting. Dave is a very down to earth guy, and is nationally famous for being able to make the Macintosh (and all things Apple) accessible to everyone. Hi everyone, I am extremely pleased that Bert Monroy has accepted the invitation to come speak to us. Bert is in the Photoshop Hal of Fame, and is a world-wide recognized expert on Photoshop. Bert's Hall of Fame entry is here: http://www.photoshop Here is how Bert describes his talk before us that evening: "Beyond the photo retouching capabilities, Adobe Photoshop is an extraordinary tool for image creation. Using software as his brush and canvas, Bert will offer a Photoshop demonstration that will explain features that are usually ignored by most users. Filters, brushes and layer styles will be taken beyond their face value and turned into tools that adapt to any given situation. Bert will inspire the casual Photoshop enthusiast to take their imagination to new heights." He has used a Mac since 1984, and continues to use Macs as his design tool of choice. He has presented around the world, and published some of the most influential books ever written on Photoshop. Hi everyone, I am thrilled to announce that we will have a visit from Adam Pratt from Adobe for our April, 2009 meetup. The event is free and open to the public, and I expect to have a very full house for this event! Adobe helped to make the entire field of graphics on the Mac way back many years ago, and they continue to expand their lineup of products, and develop their current product lines.
